Kendra Sartorelli Yellow Monster Pop Art

CURATORIAL PROJECTS

As an active member of her local art community, Kendra Sartorelli has curated several group and
solo art exhibitions in Toronto.

Most recently, she has worked as the curator of the Art in the Workplace program for both the Canadian Heritage office and the Public Health Agency of Canada office. As the curator of Art in the Workplace, Kendra organized four solo art exhibitions by emerging Toronto artists for each office. Kendra also organized an office “lunch and learn” session with each artist, where staff could meet the artist and participate in a discussion about the artwork. For this program, Kendra curated solo exhibitions by Gareth Bate, Kelly Kehoe,
Stanzie Tooth and Julia Zander.

Kendra also curated the monthly art exhibitions at Gorilla Monsoon Restaurant in Toronto for two years. As the curator of Gorilla Monsoon, Kendra organized several group and solo exhibitions by a wide variety of local artists. Her curated group shows included New Brand of Pop (an exhibition of pop art by young emerging artists), The One I Love the Most (a collection of artwork loved the most by the artists), Monsters! (a selection of different ways that monsters appear in artwork), and exhibitions such as Summer Salon and Art Salad that featured many different styles of artwork by several artists. The artists that Kendra chose for these exhibitions included Gareth Bate, Lex Buchanan, Nicole Collins, David Contin, Eric Euler, Megan Fostka, Randy Gagne, Eric Jackson, Shannon Kearns, Kelly Kehoe, Vanessa Reiger, Kyla Ross, Joel Sartorelli, Stacey Sproule, April Steele, Jackie Timpener, Stanzie Tooth, Lucas Wright and Julia Zander, among others.  Kendra promoted and organized the opening receptions for these exhibitions, where guests were invited to create their own artwork at their tables using paper and markers provided.

Kendra also worked at Gallery 201 Queen East in Toronto as the Assistant Director of the Gallery. She helped the Gallery Director to curate, organize and promote group exhibitions featuring local artists. Kendra continues to seek new curatorial opportunities while working on her own artwork.
